The Kooks - Listen
The Kooks are one of my favorite bands and while this isn't my favorite album by them, I love the cover art.
I think this kind of minimalist look on album covers is really effective because it's easier for the public to remember the design and therefore remember the music in association. It's also interesting that the heart, which we traditionally see in red, is a bright blue. Some people say that blue is most helpful color to write with when you want to remember something (I don't know if this is scientifically proven) so maybe that was a part of the designer's intentions in color choice? If you look carefully into the design, we see the word "listen" in different languages.
Although a lot of artists / bands have a picture of themselves on the cover, I always find that album art is more effective when it contains a visually compelling illustration (as opposed to a photograph). I would love to know what other people think about this!
