Florence and the Machine's "High as Hope" set
This weekend I went to a Florence and the Machine concert. The entire experience was great, but one thing I really loved was the set. Other concerts I've gone to have mostly relied on on-screen visuals, but this set was just wood stacked and arranged in a semi-concentric way (sort of like layers). Also, there were bits of space between the wood, which allowed light to shine through and help to illuminate the entire stage. Another thing I really liked was the shape of the set-- I think it there was a great balance and contrast between curved and more rectilinear shapes. This set also made me think about what it would be like to design in 3D, which is something I've never really considered.
This is set set during the concert. It's sort of hard to see the light that was coming through the wood, but I wanted to give you all an idea of what it looked like.
This is the set before the concert.
