Studio Ghibli
The love I have for Studio Ghibli literally knows no bounds. Like seriously, Hayao Miyazaki and his work have been the main source of my inspiration ever since I first saw Spirited Away back when I was 10 years old. Since we're creating our own animations right now, I figured now would be the best time to highlight some of his best animation moments.
Starting with one of my favorites, and honestly probably one of the most impressive pieces by Ghibli, Howl's Moving Castle showcases some insane animation moments. If you look carefully at the clips of the "moving castle", the parts that were being animated move so realistically and the results are absolutely breathtaking.
There's a scene in the movie where they take you into Howl's bedroom and it's such a masterpiece:
I mean really. Look at that. Look at how beautiful that is. Seriously, I can't watch this scene and not be awestruck at how gorgeous it all is.
Up next, we have Kiki's Delivery Service. This is on the older side of Miyazaki's filmography but still just as good. Miyazaki has this interesting animation style that combines eastern and western elements. He traveled a lot throughout his life and you can really see those influences in the landscapes and scenery in this movie.
And honestly, the craziest thing about all of this is that ALL THESE ANIMATIONS WERE HAND DRAWN. Every single beautiful piece of animation you see here was drawn out by hand.
You can honestly feel the amount of dedication and passion he has. It's inspirational and amazing. Hayao Miyazaki is literally my biggest inspiration and I don't have words to fully describe the appreciation I have for him, his imagination, and his talent. I could go on and on about his work and show you a lot more examples but that'd definitely be overkill. If you know his movies or know of his movies, I highly recommend watching one of them or even rewatching one of them. As children, we don't really get to appreciate what's really going on, especially artistically. Since we've learned/are learning animation, I feel like revisiting his world would be nice to just see how beautiful it can be.
