The Horror of Junji Ito
For any of you who haven't heard of Junji Ito, I'd like to introduce you to what many consider to be his masterpiece. (Junji Ito is a Japanese horror manga artist who writes really unsettling scary stories in comic form.) Since Halloween is coming up, it's the perfect time of the year to read his three volume manga titled Uzumaki. Here is a link to read it online for free and here are some screen grabs from some of his works:
PS: You typically read a manga in the opposite direction you would read a comic, although the linked version of Uzumaki I included is read the normal "left to right" American comic way. Should you decide to check out a manga in its true "right to left style" I included a guide at the bottom of this page.

Junji once collaborated with Nintendo to draw promotional Pokemon art as a guest artist, and his drawings were so unsettling that he was never contacted by Nintendo again. A lot of Junji's mangas are entirely terrifying in their artwork and in the story line. Another great work of his besides his Uzumaki masterpiece is The Enigma of Amigara Fault. I read this in the dining hall and the last few images were gruesome enough to get me to stop eating an especially tasty grilled cheese. Check out his stuff!
