Photoshoot Planning and Execution

As the marketing chair for my a cappella group, I am always looking for ways to boost the image of our group. In addition to making posters, online posts, etc, I am also in charge of the photoshoots that we do 3x a year. I recently planned and executed 2 photoshoots, with one aimed with promoting our show coming up December 7 & 8. This process has really taught me how much goes into the planning portion of art.

Though I was not the one taking the pictures, I did have to choose the best photographer for our project, contact them and coordinate a date/time, communicate to them my artistic vision and goals, and also choose shoot locations. Then, while on set, I had to communicate with the photographer and my peers in the shoot to create the best outcome. Then, following the shoot, I had to make artistic editing choices that the photographer would carry out, and then pay the photographer and make edits of my own.

Working with artists requires an understanding of art itself, and a lot of planning and organization. I have thoroughly enjoyed this job, but have also come to understand that it is often difficult to get others to understand just how much work art can be.

Attached is an example of one of the photos from our recent shoot, which will be used as a FB cover photo to promote our show.
