Yamishibai
Yaimishibai is an animated horror series where each episode is a short Japanese horror story. The artwork, to me, is pretty similar to Junji Ito's style, although the color actually makes it less frightening to me. The movement of the characters and general scenes remind me of the animations we made with photoshop this semester.

The short length of the episodes are interesting, because you see that's it's definitely possible to create enough of a narrative to scare you in a few minutes. The artwork definitely helps. A lot of the colors are muted, and the use of shadow is very carefully thought out. I pasted some screen grabs here:
The premise of the show is based on kamishibai, which was a popular street theatre activity in the 1930s. A man would come and use large, drawn cards and flip through them to tell a story with a few images. In Yamishibai, there's something off about the story man. He's shown here:
