Should Parents Throw Their Kids' Art Away?

My parents have kept every single piece of art I made in art class since pre-K. When I came upon this Op-Ed pushing for the exact opposite I was conflicted. Here's the link. 

I'm not sure really how to feel about this, especially since I'm not a parent. I don't think I'd mind if they threw some things out, but I think I'd take offense if everything was gone, for sure!
